Politics of Ancient India
Government
Next to nothing is known about the political system of the Indus River Valley Civilization due to lack of the understanding of their language, but thanks to archaeology, historians are pretty sure about two things. One is that a government did actually exist and rule over the population. The complex structures of the cities of Mohenjo-Daro and Harappa are nearly impossible to come by without a higher commanding group, or a government. The image here on the left is a map of part of Mohenjo-Daro and one can tell that an unorganized community is definitely not what created this.

Foreign Affairs
An amazing thing about the Indus people were that unlike many others, they were peaceful. Within the over 1500 discovered sites, there were barely any signs of warfare and weapons. The mountains that bordered the region may have been a major cause of this lack of defense because if you don't have enemies you don't really have a cause to fight anything, right?
